How can you shift your time management mindset and reset your routines for a more productive, balanced spring?
There’s something that happens a lot when people talk about struggling with time management and productivity. The focus becomes there’s never enough time in the day. Time is a big stressor because it feels so scarce.
Time is scarce! We all feel that. Focusing on the feeling that you’re always running out of time to get things done is totally relatable. But getting stuck in that time-stressed mindset is a miserable way to move through the day. It’s not conducive to doing your best work, growing your business, or enjoying your life.
Your time is an asset. It’s yours to control.
Let’s talk more about your time management mindset—plus, I have three tips for spring cleaning your time management routines.
This line of thought might sound familiar: “There’s not enough time for me to get to everything on my to-do list. I’m definitely going to fail to get some things done.”
Shifting to a positive mindset—I have X hours left in the day and I’m going to make the most of them!— positions you to move forward proactively and productively. That simple shift reminds you that you’re in control of your time. You know that you’re able to get a lot done in a day when you’re at your best.
Lean into that confidence as we move into a busy spring. Trust that you can move your business forward, and take care of the most important stuff at home, all in one day. Every work day.
How to Shift Your Time Management Mindset and Take Back Control
Could you move into spring with a positive mindset about how much you can accomplish with your time?
You have the power to harness your time in a way that lets you maximize productivity and live a life you love.
Here’s one good starting place: set some positive intentions for yourself. Name some ways you want to use your time this spring.
Some ideas to get you started:
-This spring, I’m going to be realistic about what I can (and can’t) use my time for. As things get busy in the warmer months, more and more asks and opportunities are going to come your way. Fantastic—but balance gets hard when you take on more than you really have the bandwidth for. Remind yourself that you have limits and you’re allowed to say yes and no to things for any reason.
-This spring, I’m going to move the needle on one of my most important goals. Focus on just one goal that you’re going to make real progress on over the next few months. It might be one that has been languishing in your to-do list for months. Or, a goal you put down a while back and want to recommit to now.
-This spring, I’m going to prioritize sleep and self-fuel. Sleep and other activities that help you take care or your health should always be priorities. Yet somehow they’re often the first things to get cut out on chaotic days. No more. Using your time now to take care of your health could literally extend your lifespan and give you more time in the long run! Managing stress and taking other steps to protect your physical health are incredibly valid priorities, even when things are busy. This is why I can these activities self-FUEL because without fuel you will run out of energy to do anything.
-This spring, I’m going to take time to enjoy growing my business. I always talk about celebrating the wins and acknowledging the things that are going well. Too many amazing, motivated, hard-working business owners get so busy with work that they totally forget to revel in what they’re doing. One benefit of practicing good time management? You know you can afford to step back, breathe, and actually enjoy what you’re building.
-This spring, I’m going to stop using time on activities that aren’t aligned with my most important goals. Move into the season ahead with a clear understanding of what you want to get out of this spring. What are your peak priorities right now?

3 Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Time Management Routines
- Declutter anything that slows you down or distracts you while you’re working. Notice those physical and digital distractions that come up for you again and again. An out-of-control inbox whose organizational system has broken down. Cluttered drawers where you’re always searching for things. Start dealing with those “I’ll get around to organizing that someday” tasks right away. Often they take 10 minutes to deal with and will help you move through your day a little more efficiently going forward.
- Dust any (figurative) cobwebs away from things you put off over the winter. For example: have you lost sight of your 2026 goals a bit? Give yourself time to sit with those goals and remember why they felt important to you in the past so you can either reconnect with them or let them go.
- Clean up your morning routine. Observe your own morning routine for a few days. You’ll probably notice some places where simple tweaks could make a big difference, both in making your routine more efficient and helping you feel more prepared for the day ahead.

Q&A
Q: Why does time feel so scarce even when I’m working all day?
A: Time feels scarce when your focus stays on everything you haven’t done yet. That creates pressure and keeps you in a reactive state instead of helping you make intentional decisions about what actually matters.
Q: How do I shift out of a time-stressed mindset?
A: Start by reframing your day in terms of available time, not missing time. A simple shift to “I have X hours and I will use them well” helps you move forward with clarity and control.
Q: What is one practical way to improve time management this season?
A: Choose one meaningful goal and commit to making steady progress on it. Narrowing your focus reduces overwhelm and increases follow-through.
Q: How do I stop overcommitting my time?
A: Get honest about your capacity. Before saying yes, ask whether the commitment supports your current priorities. If it doesn’t, give yourself permission to decline.
Q: Why is self-care part of time management?
A: Without energy, your time becomes less effective. Prioritizing sleep, health, and stress management ensures you can actually use your time well and sustain your productivity.
